The elegance of the beauty and color in the tropics is found in the exotic Bird of Paradise flower. Will Herrera combines the sweeping power of line and form of abstract sculpture with the integrity of nature's grace in "Messenger of Paradise." The bronze high polished sculpture is an extremely limited edition of only 6 signed and numbered works along with an edition of 9 bronzes with a choice of "patina" surface colorations and one Artist's Proof, with a total edition size limited to 16 pieces.

Iao River Fanscape measures 18-1/2" in height and the fan is 12" across. The sculpture was made using the "lost wax" process. Actual silver was used for the "patina" coloration of the fan. Edition consists of ten signed and numbered works plus one Artist's Proof.

Will Herrera's inspiration for this highly unique sculpture was derived from a stone found in the river in Iao Valley on Maui. The blade forms springing forth from the stone are Traveler's Palm flower blades. The stone at the base of the sculpture is a symbol of Earth, the flower blades represent growth and the fan is a sculptural metaphor of the beauty of our island unfolding.
